Imperial's Lord of the Ring, "Quest" came from Imperial Shelties in East Aurora, NY near Buffalo. I made 6 different flight changes to go pick up my second Sheltie back in 2001. What an exciting trip I had, though the landing on the way back home to the Lynchburg airport at night was a bit hairy. It's a wonder the flight attendant didn't have to pry my knuckles from the arms of my seat! I will never fly again at night! That is settled. I also feel the same way about traveling on Interstates, where the other drivers navigate at break neck speed. Think NASCAR! Anyway, Quest and I made it home safely enough to meet my mom at the airport along with Skyler. They hit it off  immediately and have been fast buddies ever since.

I originally wanted Quest for show. Unfortunately, the BIG sheltie syndrome hit and Quest oversized at year old or there about. Oh well, so we tried our hands at agility. Quest is a natural. He loves to work out ahead of me and knows the course better than I do at times. I'm the one who drew lines on the course sheet just to be able to remember the correct path. He was a fun dog to run that's for sure. I say "was" as I can no longer compete in agility due to a hip injury.

Obedience is more my style. In that sport, Quest, who is still in training, heels beautifully. I couldn't ask for a better heeling dog. He watches me constantly and never misses a cue for a sharp about turn. Just lovely. His only nemesis is the stand for examination. Quest doesn't see any need to let some stranger come up and put their paws on his body, thank you! Hopefully, he'll over come that as we work on it more and I'll be able to compete with him as well as Skyler and Chase in the future, perhaps in Rally Obedience.
